Our Founder and CEO
Cynthia Thomas was born in Washington, DC, and moved to Atlanta, GA, in 1989, where she and her family planted their feet. She is a mother, a grandmother, a great-grandmother, an enthusiastic traveler, editor, photographer, and she is passionate about volunteering.
Why BeMary?
As a tribute to her life and devotion to her parents, Bernard and Mary, Cynthia founded BeMary Community Development Services, Inc. Cynthia always says, "I was rich with my parents and made myself poor without them." Cynthia and her family moved to College Park, GA, where they lacked transportation and food, and eventually sought support for her family. Sometimes the aid came without transportation, and walking was the only option to carry food home to the family. While on her path to financial security, she started giving back to communities through donations and volunteering. She also inspired her family and friends to volunteer for various causes throughout their communities. As a volunteer for several groups, she noticed people also needed better transportation. She began helping the communities in her region and then solicited others to do the same as she believes we are here to support those in need and represent them.
